Privacy Policy

Sunflower Story Garden is a small parent-participation homeschool co-op in Mobile, Alabama. This page explains what information we collect through this website, why, and what we do with it.

We have tried to write this plainly rather than legally, because families applying to join us are trusting us with information about their children and deserve a straight answer.

What we collect

We collect information in two ways, and only these two:

  • Our application form. When you apply to join, you give us your name, your contact details, and information about your children and your family — including your children’s ages and what you tell us about them. You choose what to share; the form tells you which fields we actually need.
  • Our contact form. Your name, email address, and whatever you write to us.

We do not run advertising on this site, we do not sell anything through it, and we do not use tracking that follows you to other websites.

Why we collect it

To decide together whether our circle is a good fit for your family, to contact you about your application, and — if you join us — to reach you about the days we gather, the festivals, and anything that affects your children.

We do not use your information for anything else, and we do not contact you about unrelated things.

Information about children

Because we are a program for young children, some of what you send us is information about a child. We treat it accordingly:

  • We collect it from you, the parent or guardian — never from the child directly, and this website is not intended for children to use.
  • We use it only to understand your family and to care for your child well if you join us.
  • We do not publish it, share it, or give it to anyone outside the small group of people running the co-op.
  • We never post photographs of a child on this website or anywhere else without asking that family first.

Who can see it

Only the people running Sunflower Story Garden. We do not sell, rent, trade, or give your information to anyone else.

Some of it necessarily passes through the services that run this site — our web host, and the form software that delivers your application to us by email. They hold it in order to provide that service, not for their own purposes.

Enrolled families also use a separate private platform (Homeschool.fit) for our schedule, announcements, and attendance. That platform has its own privacy policy, and information you enter there is covered by it rather than by this page.

How long we keep it

Applications from families who join us are kept for as long as you are part of the co-op, and for a reasonable period afterward. Applications from families who do not end up joining are kept only as long as the conversation is live, and then removed.

Ask us to delete your information at any point and we will, unless we are required to keep it.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about your family, to correct it, or to delete it. Write to us and we will do it — there is no process to go through and no form to fill in.

Cookies

This site uses only the cookies WordPress sets to make the site work — for example to remember you if you leave a comment, or to keep you signed in if you administer the site. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page. If the change is significant and affects enrolled families, we will tell you directly rather than expecting you to notice it here.

A note on what we are. Sunflower Story Garden is a parent-participation co-op, not a licensed childcare facility or a private school. Families remain responsible for their children’s education, and parents participate in the days we gather.
